The Ritual of cleansing for your skin (and your nervous system)

We often think of cleansing as the most basic step in skincare.
But cleansing is not basic.
It is the moment you return to yourself. The moment you wash the day away. The moment your hands meet your face, and your body exhales.
At Mia Belle Holistic Sanctuary, our cleansers are crafted not just to remove makeup or oil,
but to support the skin barrier, honour your skin’s innate balance,
and invite a moment of calm into your day.
Because the way you cleanse matters.
Why your cleanser matters more than you think
If it’s too harsh:
The skin barrier weakens
Sensitivity increases
Oil production can overcompensate
Serums and treatments don’t absorb as well
If it’s too heavy for your skin type:
Congestion builds
Breakouts linger
Skin feels dull
The right cleanser should leave your skin:
Comfortable
Soft
Balanced
Never tight
And emotionally? It should feel grounding.
Below are the cleansing options we lovingly offer, and what kind of skin / skin goals each supports.
Sweet Dreams Cleansing Balm
Best for: Dry, sensitive, mature, or dehydrated skin - especially at night
Why it matters:

This buttery, soothing balm melts into your skin and dissolves makeup, sunscreen, and daily buildup without stripping. It’s deeply hydrating and wonderfully gentle - perfect if your skin feels tight or reactive.
How to use:
Start with dry skin
Massage the balm in circular motions, especially around the eyes and jaw.
Adding water creates a silky milky cleanser.
Rinse with warm water or remove with a damp cloth.
Follow with your chosen serum/moisturizer
This is self-care in texture form.
AHA Exfoliating Face Cleansing Bar
Best for: Congested, dull, or textured skin
Why it matters:
This bar combines gentle surface exfoliation with cleansing power. It helps renew and refine skin texture without over-stripping. Great if you want smoother, more radiant skin without irritation.
How to use:
Wet your face and the bar
Gently work into a light lather
Massage over skin (avoid the eye area)
Rinse thoroughly
Gently enough to use as your daily cleanser or 2–4 times a week.
Balance Foaming Clay Cleanser Bar
Best for: Combination skin or skin that needs a gentle daily refresh
Why it matters:

A soft foaming clay cleanser that washes away impurities and excess oil without stripping. It’s balanced, clear, and calm - ideal for everyday use.
How to use:
Lather in hands
Massage into damp skin
Rinse with lukewarm water
Pat dry
Follow with your serums and creams.
This is your reliable daily cleanser.
Organic Cacay Oil Milk Cleanser
Best for: Normal, dry, or sensitive skin that loves nourishment
Why it matters:

A beautifully gentle milk cleanser that dissolves surface oils and makeup while nourishing the skin with rich cacay oil. It’s soothing, softening, and perfect for calmer routines.
How to use:
Apply to damp skin
Massage gently
Rinse with warm water or remove with a soft cloth
Perfect morning or night.
Natural Clay Bar Face Cleanser - Two Options
Unscented Calme
Best for: Ultra-sensitive, reactive, inflamed, or easily irritated skin
Why it matters:
Completely unscented and gentle, this cleanser leans into simplicity and purity. It’s grounding for skin that shies away from aroma and stimulation.

Pink Clay with Rose Geranium
Best for: Normal to combination skin that loves gentle balancing and a soft floral scent
Why it matters:
Pink clay gently draws out debris and oil, while rose geranium helps balance and soothe. It’s a joyful everyday cleanser with a touch of sensory delight.
Both options:
Remove excess oil
Draw out gentle impurities
Respect the skin barrier
How to use:
Wet skin and bar
Create a light lather
Massage onto face
Rinse well
Use as your daily cleanser morning and evening.
Cream Clay Cleansers with natural fine ground rosehip exfoliant
Best for: Dry, mature, combination skin types.

Why it matters:
These cream clay formulas blend gentle cleansing, exfoliation with nurturing richness.
They cleanse without stripping, leaving skin soft and calm - ideal for those who
prefer a more nourishing exfoliation routine.
How to use:
Apply to damp skin
Massage gently
Rinse thoroughly.
These are favorites for evenings when your skin needs nourishment as much as cleansing. Use 2 - 3 x a week.
When to Cleanse Once vs Twice
Morning: If your skin feels calm and balanced, one gentle cleanse is enough. You are refreshing, not stripping.
Evening: If you’ve worn SPF or make-up, or been outdoors, a second cleanse can help remove build up and let your serums work deeper. Just keep both steps gentle.
Cleansing as a Nervous System Ritual
This is the part people overlook:

When you wash your face, you are:
Touching your jaw (where tension lives)
Touching your cheeks (where emotions live)
Touching your forehead (where thoughts linger)
Instead of rushing:
• Slow your breath
• Use upward strokes
• Soften your jaw
• Let your shoulders drop
Even 60 seconds of mindful cleansing can calm your nervous system.
Skincare can be mechanical, 0r it can be medicine.
The Simplified Approach
You don’t need 10 steps.
You need:
A cleanser that respects your skin
A treatment that supports your deeper layers
A moisturiser or serum that nourishes
Consistency beats complexity.
If you’re unsure which cleanser best suits your skin, feel free to reach out or ask during your next clinic visit - I’m always happy to help guide you.
With care,
Cath xoxo
